10 Seriously Awesome Products You Must Try Now from Sephora Australia That Are $40 or Under

Who doesn’t love Sephora right? Every time I enter a Sephora store, I get the same feeling I get upon entering a doughnut shop.  Unfortunately, we don’t have a Sephora store here in Perth Western Australia as of..yet.  So, every time when I go to one, I walk out with a bucket load of products. Don’t worry, you can also make your purchases online.  Here are 10 things I have bought, tried and tested from Sephora, which are fantastic. To make the deal sweeter, these items are all under $A40! some are like, way under!

Drybar | A Lil’ Drybar To Go Travel Set ($39)

I used this during my trip to Sydney last week and loved it! I get pedantic about my hair and have to wash, treat and dry it every other day. Travelling makes doing this harder, especially with a mediocre blowdryer, crappy toiletries and the fact that you cannot be carrying all your hair products for a short trip on a 7kg luggage allowance!

This A Lil’ Drybar to go Travel Set solves all my issues. The shampoo and conditioner smell good and does not dry my hair.  The detangler is my favourite product out of this lot as it does not take much to sort my hair out (my hair is wavy, tangles easily and often). The best part is, after 2 days of partying, running around and sleeping, I did not get a single tangle in my hair!

The Triple Sec 3-1 is meant to be a volumiser, give your hair texture and also serves as a dry shampoo. I applied it to my hair before styling and a little after and it gave my hair such a sexy boost!  My hair was not stiff or sticky after. Which is great.  Just make sure you don’t use too much of it. Spread it around with your fingers a little bit. Used together, the travel set is absolutely fantastic, it left my hair clean and perfect.  This will stay on my travel essential list from now on.

Sephora Collection |  Colorful Face Masks ($6)

I personally do not use sheet face masks often as I don’t see it as a necessity. Plus, I prefer apply-on masks. But it is certainly a practice that I do when I get the time to rest and relax. For this reason, I try not to spend too much money on a sheet face mask. Sephora face masks tends to do a good job at making my skin feels relaxed and moisturised after every use. I have tried a few ‘shades’ and finds that they all yield the same results.

Fresh | Sugar Face Polish ($36)

I am a little bit finicky when it comes to skincare as I am constantly struggling with my skin. I tend to stick to brands that know works and majority of the time, I use products from Aesop. But recently I ran out of face scrub and thought I gave this one from Fresh a try.  I was pleasantly surprised with the results! it is gentle on my sensitive skin and left my skin smooth after each use.  For the amount you get at the price, it can be a little pricey, especially if you do you it as often as 3 to 4 times a week as it claims you can. But it did stop blackheads from forming and my skin is even and refreshing after use. Can’t complain about that!

Sephora Collection | Moisturising Hand Cream ($6)

Hand cream is another product I don’t spend too much money on. But I do tend to use it regularly due to the nature of my work.  I bought the Tea Infusion (Green Tea) scent as I loved it a lot. I’m a big fan of green tea scent so this was heavenly.  What I like about this the most is, it absorbs well and does not leave my hand greasy, which is my biggest pet peeve with hand creams.

Nudestix | Intense Matte Lip & Cheek Pencil ($20)

I bought this because I thought the product and packaging looked good and innovative. The price also seemed pretty decent for what they claim they do.  This makeup crayon also comes with a mirror and a sharpener which is great. I tried the ‘Kiss’ shade and thought, for a matte lip pencil, this is pretty creamy. I applied the lip pencil once and had it on for 8 hours and did not have to reapply. It also did not dry my lips.  I, however, did not quite like it as a blush as I feel that it smudges my makeup as opposed to sitting on it.  That said, the brand has a great range for those who prefer the nude/natural look.

Fenty Beauty | Bomb Baby Mini Lip And Face Set ($32)

One thing, I am not a big fan of celebrity products. I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to personal care items. But, when I saw this, I thought to my self, I am constantly complaining about the size of my travel makeup bag and would like to downsize them.  My sister bought a few Fenty products when Rihanna first launched it and raved about it.

So I decided to put some faith into my sister and bought me this set.  At $A32 it is a good price to test Riri’s products as you get 2 things.   The mini size is also super cute and fit in my clutch which is a big plus. As a brown girl, I absolutely love the shade. Riri nailed it with the colors. It complements my caramel skin tone perfectly. The lipgloss is nice and not gooey on the lips and the highlighter is good.   It is definitely one to get if you are a fan of Rihanna .

Tarte | Mermaid Glitter Gel (Limited Edition) ($27)

This glitter gel is so cool if you want to shine like a diamond (or a mermaid) on a night out or at a festival! What I love about this Tarte product is, it has a fantastic purplely -turquoisy  glow!  This vegan highlighting glitter can be used as intended – on yourself so you glitter away, or if you want to add some funkyness to your makeup, dab a tiny bit (I mean TINY) on your lips or your eyelids ! That said, I have only used this a handful of time and it is not suitable if SUBTLE is the look you are going for.  It doesnt feel sticky upon application and washes off easily which is great. I didnt get any on my hair which is even better.

Beauty Bakerie | Flour Finishing Powder ($36)

Okay, at $36 for 14g one can say that this is actually pretty steep. That said, this setting powder is pretty freaking awesome for girls with tanned skin – like me! Unlike other translucent powder which actually leaves my skin with light patches, this doesn’t! This powder also tend to have good staying power on my skin, especially my t-zone. It lasts all day and I use it the most when I am out and about as I hardly need to do any touch-up

Herbivore Botanicals | Pink Clay – Exfoliating Mask  ($31)

Source : Sephora Australia

If you are after an all natural exfoliating treatment mask, Herbivore Botanicals uses only the finest ingredients to create 100% all-natural products with an emphasis on plant-based and organic. I have used this several times as when my skin tends to get extra oily and gross.

You will need to mix the clay with water – prepare for a bit of a mess as it might take a few tries to get the consistencies right.  That said, this product does a good job if you are after all natural product on your skin. The product tends to dry my skin a little which I easily managed by applying some moisturiser, but at the same time, it didn’t feel like it helped bring balance to my skin as it went back to being gross the next day. I actually used it few more times hoping for better results before I went back to my usual stuff.

Percy & Reed | Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational No Oil Oil For Thick Hair ($28)

Let’s save the best for last.  I absolutely love, love, love this product! I have long, dry, wavy and frizzy hair which requires constant care for it to even look half decent. Before Percy & Reed, I relied a lot on Japanese hair care products- which can be a little pricey. But at $A28 for 60ml, this bloody thing is a steal for what it can do! I use this religiously after every wash. After applying on my damp hair,  blow-dry my hair straight and apply it again after to make my hair look sleek and glossy. I also keep 1 bottle in my handbag  for emergency.  This product is lightweight, does not make my hair greasy and you don’t need any more than a couple of drop. What a fantastic product.
